Mengqiang Yu, an incoming PhD student joining ISEE Lab, has received the Grand Prize of the 2026 Shanghai University President's Scholarship. The honour recognises his sustained excellence in academic achievement, robotics research, engineering innovation, leadership, and service.
Mengqiang Yu has received the Grand Prize of the 2026 Shanghai University President's Scholarship, recognising his sustained excellence in academic achievement, robotics research, engineering innovation, leadership, and service.
He recently completed his undergraduate studies in Robotics Engineering at the School of Mechatronic Engineering and Automation, Shanghai University. During his studies, he ranked first among 71 students in his cohort for three consecutive years and earned a series of scholarships and honours for academic performance and all-round development.
Mengqiang's research experience spans aquatic-aerial robotics, soft and bio-inspired robotics, smart materials and shape-memory polymers, robotic adhesion, intelligent mechanisms, and robotic system integration. He has also participated in major innovation and engineering competitions, receiving awards including the Global First Prize in the International Youth Artificial Intelligence Competition, the National Second Prize in the China International College Students' Innovation Competition, and the National Third Prize in the National Undergraduate Mechanical Innovation Design Competition.
As an incoming PhD student at City University of Hong Kong, Mengqiang will join ISEE Lab to continue his research in interfacial science and engineering. We warmly congratulate him on this achievement and look forward to welcoming him to the group.
